About FamilyLife
Why we exist
We exist to help families grow together and impact their corner of the world.
How we fulfill that purpose
To effectively build God-centered marriage and families, directly and with strategic partnerships to help bring about multiplication of transformed communities.
What we desire for the world
We envision to see families pursuing God’s design, transforming communities for intergenerational impact.
FamilyLife was started by Dennis and Barbara Rainey in 1976 in the USA to help the staff couples of Cru (known as Campus Crusade for Christ) live out God’s timeless principles for building and strengthening marriages and homes (as presented in the Bible). Because of the
increasing family needs in different groups and sectors, the organization expanded outside its initial intended audience crossing different organizational, denominational, sectoral, and even national borders.
In 1994, Teodulfo & Evelyn Pajaron attended a Weekend to Remember seminar and the first FamilyLife International Speaker’s Conference in 1994 New Orleans. They went with Fred and Erlyn Castro, and together, they paved the way for FamilyLife to reach the Philippines. The groundwork started with the Weekend to Remember conference among staff members, pastors, and local church members. In 1995, they moved to Davao City, and a year later, the Church and Family Resource Center was established. The organization branched out in different ways. Local leaders were equipped as Seminar speakers. Many couples were trained to lead small couples study groups called HomeBuilders Groups. From among the different volunteers, champion couples took responsibility to reach out in their own groups and areas. Some regional hubs were started.
In 2006, FamilyLife Philippines, Inc. was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission in Davao City and a board was formed composed of Teodulfo & Evelyn Pajaron, Gilbert & Atty. Evalyn Morales, Johnny & Emelie Dalisay, Rufino & Merlyn Lagat, and
Norman & Sally Molinos.
In 2016, the baton of leadership was passed on to Albert & Ma. Faustina “Marife” Palima. FamilyLife team was composed 8 couples including Rey & Mary Grace Tonsay, who came on board as full-time staff. With a limited staff, the organization continues to expand her borders through partners. New partnership was forged with The Foursquare Church of the Philippines, Philippine Children Ministry Network, public schools, and local government units began to open doors.
2019, which shifted our ministry to borderless and online platform. This paves the way to launch the Vertical Marriage contextualized by Norman & Sally Molinos.
On June 15, 2021, FL leadership was officially passed on to Rey & Mary Grace Tonsay. New breed of staff came to join the team. In November 2021, FL celebrated her 25th Anniversary.
A new research-based parenting curriculum called P4s: Pagsasanay sa Pagiging Magulang Tungo sa Pinagpalang Pamilya began to gain grounds among public schools in Quezon City. This is a product of Dr. Evelyn R. Pajaron’s PhD dissertation in Child Holistic Development. It expanded to different regions in the Philippines reaching families in 16 cities. Vertical Marriage became an online platform to train small groups, an effective tool to launch or help family ministries among churches. Currently, God is opening doors among churches, schools and local government units pursuing God’s agenda among families.
